QUICKBOOKS CSV IMPORT FAILED
QuickBooks CSV import failed? Check these six causes first
Most failed bank CSV imports come down to column mapping, unreadable dates or amounts, inconsistent rows, or a file that does not match the accepted three- or four-column layout.
Work on a copy, map the required columns, normalize one date and amount format, then review every flagged row before importing.
What usually causes it
- Date, Description or Amount is mapped to the wrong source column
- Dates use a different order than the one selected during import
- Currency symbols or thousands separators make an amount unreadable
- Some rows contain more or fewer fields than the header
- Debit and Credit values are combined inconsistently
- The file contains blank required values or exact duplicate transactions
The repair sequence
- 01
Keep only the import columns
Create a copy and remove unrelated balance, category and account columns.
- 02
Choose one amount structure
Use Date, Description, Amount or Date, Description, Credit, Debit consistently.
- 03
Normalize dates and amounts
Use one date order and plain numeric amounts without currency symbols.
- 04
Scan before importing
Run the local checker below and review every flagged row before trying again.
Important limits
This checker validates common file-format conditions. It does not select an accounting account, determine transaction purpose or guarantee that QuickBooks will accept a file. Back up the source and reconcile totals before importing.
